When is the best time to visit Morocco?

Spring and autumn are the easy answers — but the honest one depends on where you are going and what you can tolerate.

Morocco is not one climate but several, and the "best" month depends entirely on which of them you are heading for.

Spring (March to May)

The consensus favourite, and deservedly so. The Atlas still holds snow on the peaks while the valleys turn green, the Sahara is warm rather than punishing, and the imperial cities are comfortable to walk all day.

Autumn (September to November)

Nearly as good, and often quieter. The summer heat breaks in September, the light turns golden, and the coast stays swimmable well into October.

Summer (June to August)

Hot inland — Marrakech regularly passes 40°C, and the desert is genuinely unsafe at midday. The Atlantic coast, though, is glorious: Essaouira rarely climbs above the mid-20s thanks to the trade winds.

Winter (December to February)

Underrated. Crisp, clear days in the cities, dramatic light for photography, and the desert at its most comfortable. Pack properly: nights in the Sahara drop close to freezing, and riads are often built to stay cool rather than warm.

Whatever the month, we build the itinerary around the weather rather than against it.
